SENATOR LAVALLE CALLS UPON GOVERNOR TO SIGN LIPA RATE INCREASE OVERSIGHT LEGISLATION

In light of Long Island Power Authority’s (LIPA) recent decision to increase rates by 3 percent, Senator Kenneth P. LaValle (R - Port Jefferson) has scheduled a press conference to call upon the Governor to sign a measure he and Assemblyman Robert Sweeney (D-Lindenhurst) sponsored to prevent LIPA from imposing rate hikes without a review by the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC).

The bill sponsored by Senator LaValle and Assemblyman Sweeney would help protect Long Island ratepayers from constant rate hikes.

Without this law, ratepayers remain powerless. This new rate increase demonstrates the importance and urgency of the Governor signing this measure.
