Councilwoman Bonner Announces Free Educational Seminar on Ovarian Cancer

Councilwoman Jane Bonner announces that a free educational seminar on the 3rd Annual Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day will be held on Saturday, May 1st from 9 am to 2 pm at the East Wind Inn & Spa, 5720 Route 25A in Wading River. The SASS Foundation for Medical Research is sponsoring this free seminar to promote better understanding of ovarian cancer and to discuss the latest advances in cancer detection and treatments.

“Despite the fact that there have been significant medical advances, cancer remains one of the primary causes of death in the United States. Efforts of organizations such as SASS and educating oneself about this terrible disease can reduce the number of cancer deaths; the SASS Foundation has earned my support,” said Councilwoman Bonner.

The seminar will be moderated by Dr. Francis P. Arena, President and Co-Founder of The SASS Foundation and will feature a Special Keynote Address, Courage Award Honoree, a “Town Hall Forum” Panel of Doctors, Workshops and a Support Services Showcase.

Founded in 1986, the non-profit organization is dedicated to three aspects: research, patient care and education, and ultimately, to finding a cure. Every year SASS hosts free seminars, presentations, and workshops that are designed to help people reduce their risk of cancer by teaching about the latest prevention strategies, treatment therapies and patient-support options. This forum makes it possible for cancer patients and their families to consult with world-class cancer specialists – absolutely free of charge.
