Dean Murray To Seek 3rd Assembly District Seat
East Patchogue Businessman and Community Leader Earns
Support from Suffolk County and Brookhaven GOP

BROOKHAVEN, NY – Local businessman/advertising executive Dean Murray today announced that he has received the support of both the Suffolk County and Brookhaven Town Republican Committees for the special election to be held in early 2010 to fill the vacancy within the 3rd Assembly District seat, currently held by Assemblywoman Pat Eddington (D-Medford).
“I’m a businessman, not a politician. I know what it takes to create jobs, provide health care and other benefits for hard-working people. As an Assemblyman, I’ll fight for smaller and smarter government, lower taxes and to stop the wasteful spending that is mortgaging our children’s future here on Long Island,” said Murray.
Murray is the President of D & S Advertising Inc, which publishes the Long Island Job Finder, Long Island Apartment & Rental Finder, Long Island Real Estate Finder, and the Long Island Fugitive Finder magazines and websites. Through these publications, Murray has built a successful business that employs Suffolk County residents and has helped Long Islanders find good jobs and homes to call their own.
Suffolk County Republican Chairman John Jay LaValle has presented Murray’s name to the Suffolk County Conservative and Independence Party Leaders for consideration of endorsement.
“Few, if any, know how to create jobs and opportunity like Dean Murray,” asserted Suffolk County Chairman John Jay LaValle. “It’s common sense! Our residents need jobs and opportunities; Dean Murray has been successful finding the jobs and homes of their dreams for people for a living. Let’s hire someone who knows how to get it done, rather than another politician with empty promises,” said LaValle.
Murray is an active community leader in Suffolk County volunteering for numerous organizations including the Suffolk County Workforce Investment Board, Hauppauge Industrial Association, Suffolk County Police Reserves and several Chambers of Commerce. His son, Anthony, currently serves in the Air National Guard, has already completed a tour of duty in Iraq and is shipping out on January 5, 2010 for a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
“It all starts with good people. Those who are dedicated and loyal to their community, like Dean Murray” stated Brookhaven Chair Jesse Garcia. “With every good person that we set forth, we will be one step closer to overcoming the challenges of this difficult economy”, said Garcia.
With Suffolk County homeowners paying among the highest property taxes in the nation, Murray said we need to cut out-of-control property taxes now and cap future increases.
“The victories our party saw across Long Island a few weeks ago show that the momentum for positive change is on our side. With that momentum we will reclaim this seat for the hard working people of the 3rd Assembly district,” said Murray. “The people of the Third Assembly District deserve a representative in the Assembly who will fight for them and not the interests of New York City party bosses. With the problems facing our state and our nation, we need to return to our core values. I want to return trust to our government. Our leaders need to speak for the families and businesses they represent, instead of special interests. As a father, homeowner, businessman and taxpayer, you have my commitment that every vote I cast as your Assemblyman will be for the best interest of our community.”
The 3rd Assembly District includes Bellport, Blue Point, Brookhaven Hamlet, Coram, Farmingville, Gordon Heights, Holtsville, Medford, Middle Island, Patchogue, and parts of, Mastic, Selden, Shirley and Yaphank.
