As a son of a Stalag 17 Prisoner of War, I have a profound love and respect for veterans everywhere. I am always interested in ways to truly help people who serve our country.

When I successfully passed the Town’s first apprenticeship program as a Councilman in April 2004, I was proud that veterans would naturally benefit from the creation of hundreds of learning opportunities for our labor union workers.

When I was the critical decision maker on the establishment of the Caithness Energy Center, which has since generated more than 400 union jobs and $100 million in payroll and benefits for workers, I was equally proud that our military heroes would have opportunities to work here at home.

Let’s come together in the government arena to make some sense of how we can assist all of our citizens in these worst economic times. There is no time to spare---we must work as one team right now to find real financial opportunities for those struggling to make ends meet.
