SENATOR LAVALLE ACCEPTS SENATE COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS

Senator Kenneth P. LaValle, former Chair of the Senate Higher Education Committee, today announced that he will continue to play a role
on the Committee as Ranking Member. Senator LaValle will also serve on the Senate Aging, Education, Finance, Insurance, Judiciary, and Rules Committees.

"I have been involved in education and higher education for the better part of my career in public service," said Senator LaValle. "I
thoroughly enjoyed my 29-year tenure as Chair of the Senate Higher Education Committee and am proud of my many accomplishments. I am pleased to have a ranking position on the newly-formed Committee and will continue to serve with the best interests of the colleges and students of our state in mind."

“There is nobody who has played a more integral role in shaping higher education policy in New York State than Senator Kenneth LaValle,”
said Senate Republican Leader Dean G. Skelos. “His knowledge, experience and insight are critically needed, especially at a time when access to higher education is threatened by the Governor’s budget. I am pleased that Senator LaValle will continue in a leadership role on the Senate Higher Education Committee.”
