Brian Foley: Still Playing Politics

Making Taxpayers Pick Up Bill

News from Brookhaven Town Republican Committee
10/10/2008

BROOKHAVEN, NY – Brookhaven Republican Party Chairman Jesse Garcia issued the following statement regarding Brian Foley’s partisan news conference announcing a $9.25 million low interest loan to expand a sewage treatment plant.

“Once again Brian Foley has hoodwinked Brookhaven taxpayers into unknowingly financing his political campaign with their tax dollars.

“On the steps of Town Hall today, Foley held what amounted to a Democratic pep rally for his failing state senatorial campaign, and he continued to demonstrate his long regarded act of partisanship by muzzling and pushing all Republican elected officials at his press conference from speaking.

“The most egregious act, however, was Foley's highlighting the $9.25 million in low cost financing that was championed and made possible by the Suffolk County delegation of the State Senate, specifically, his opponent, Sen. Caesar Trunzo.

“Brian Foley’s partisanship has led to historic property taxes dropped on Brookhaven taxpayers; the loss of much needed jobs; and a ‘pay for play’ way of governing Town Hall.

“Foley is a typical politician, taking credit where none is due, promoting his failed candidacy at taxpayer expense, and completely corrupting the idea of what a public servant should do for the people he is supposed to represent.”
