DEAN MURRAY

5/22/2009

Patchogue,NY – At its annual Nominating Convention, the Suffolk County and Brookhaven Town Republican Committees unanimously selected local small business owner, Dean Murray, as the candidate in the 7th Legislative District. Immediately, Murray laid out a platform of bringing cost efficiency and accountability to county government; and an agenda of action and solutions for community issues

In a crowd rousing speech, Murray, humbled by the nomination, expressed, "I am extremely excited about sharing my ideas and results based agenda directly to the people who make their lives here in the communities of the 7th legislative district.. For too many years, the hard working, tax paying residents of our communities have heard many empty and unfulfilled promises. That ends now. That changes on Election Day. Now, more than ever before, is the time for leadership; and I vow to all the people of the 7th district that I will provide that leadership.”

Murray is a successful businessman who specializes in assisting individuals find jobs and quality residential housing opportunities, while at the same time has been nationally recognized for being on the forefront of making our neighborhoods safer by helping police to get hardened criminals off the streets through his monthly publication, the “Long Island Fugitive Finder”.

Grounded in real time experience in the private sector of meeting the bottom line, eliminating wasteful spending and knowing how to control and reduce budgets, Murray outlined his approach to making county government affordable and accountable to taxpayers.

"I pledge to bring the same drive, ambition and work ethic to the Legislature that I have displayed in the private sector my entire adult life. I will bring a common sense, business approach to county government that has been sorely lacking,” Murray said to a standing ovation. “In these tough economic times, we cannot continue to be reactive; we need officials who are pro-active in finding real solutions to stop rising property taxes and working with businesses to encourage job growth. Jack Eddington’s tax and spend approach is not a solution. The hardworking people of Suffolk County are struggling to hold on to their homes and their jobs. They’re being forced to cut back on spending and live within their means. Its about time Suffolk County Government learns to do the same thing.”
